Mr Leonard is a Consultant Reconstructive Plastic & Hand Surgeon with over 15 years experience.
His medico-legal practice focuses primarily on cases of personal injury and he welcomes instructions from law firms acting on behalf of both Claimant and Defendant.
He is registered with the UK Register of Expert Witnesses, and reflecting his extensive experience in surgical research, takes a forensic, evidence based approach to all of his reporting.
Clinical Experience & Interests
Mr Leonard graduated from the University of Glasgow Medical School in 2006. Following doctoral research studies at the University of Manchester and Harvard Medical School, he undertook training in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in the Scottish Deanery, working at the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit, and the Edinburgh Plastic & Hand Surgery Unit. He completed a clinical fellowship in hand transplantation, major nerve and microsurgery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, and a visiting fellowship funded by the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons to study cutting edge techniques in the surgical management of neuropathic pain and prosthetic osseointegration at Massachusetts General Hospital and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in the United States.
Mr Leonard is a locum Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive & Hand Surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. His clinical interests include trauma, microsurgical reconstruction of upper and lower limbs, nerve surgery including the surgical management of pain, and the surgical care of amputees. He is a core member of the UK Hand and Upper Limb Transplant Service.
